Indicated for selected presentations of mild to moderate foot drop and dorsiflexion weakness where assistance with forefoot clearance during walking is required.

May be considered for selected neurological or muscular presentations where sufficient ankle flexibility and stability remain for a dynamic carbon AFO.

Professional assessment is recommended where there is significant spasticity, fixed deformity, substantial ankle instability, marked knee-control problems or complex neurological involvement.

Who is the Carbon AFO suitable for?
It is designed for selected presentations of foot drop or dorsiflexion weakness where assistance with forefoot clearance during walking is required.

How does the carbon-fibre design work?
The pre-loaded carbon structure is designed to flex during stance and return energy as the foot progresses through walking, while also assisting dorsiflexion during swing phase.

How is it different from a standard plastic AFO?
Carbon construction allows a lightweight, slim and relatively dynamic design. A more rigid thermoplastic AFO may provide greater immobilisation or control where this is required.

Is it suitable for every type of foot drop?
No. Significant spasticity, fixed deformity, severe instability or complex knee-control problems may require a different orthosis and professional assessment.

Can I wear it inside normal shoes?
It is designed for use inside suitable supportive footwear, but the shoe must provide sufficient depth and width for the footplate and allow the heel to remain securely contained.

Do I choose Left or Right?
Yes. Choose the version corresponding to the affected leg.

Can the AFO be trimmed or adjusted?
The product is supplied in trimmable sizes. Any significant modification should follow the manufacturer's fitting instructions and be carried out appropriately.

What is the maximum user weight?
The current product specification gives a maximum user weight of 100 kg.

Does the Carbon AFO cure foot drop?
No. It is an assistive orthosis intended to support walking and foot clearance; it does not treat the underlying cause of foot drop.
