Indicated for mild-to-moderate unicompartmental osteoarthritis of the knee and genu varum or genu valgum associated with osteoarthritis.

May also be suitable for selected medial or lateral meniscal injury where compartment-specific mechanical unloading has been recommended.

What is an unloading knee brace?
An unloading brace is designed to alter mechanical loading through the knee so that less force passes through the affected medial or lateral compartment during activity.

Who is the Gonartec® Advance designed for?
It is principally designed for mild-to-moderate unicompartmental knee osteoarthritis, including selected cases associated with varus or valgus alignment.

How does the 3-point pressure system work?
Two crossing straps create three points of corrective pressure around the knee, helping redistribute load away from the affected compartment.

Can it unload either the medial or lateral side of the knee?
Yes. The Gonartec® Advance can be configured for medial or lateral compartment unloading, but the correct brace configuration must be selected for the affected compartment and alignment.

Do I simply choose Left for my left knee and Right for my right knee?
Not necessarily. The correct configuration depends on which knee compartment requires unloading and the direction of correction. If you are unsure which version is required, contact us before ordering.

How is this different from a normal hinged knee brace?
A standard hinged brace primarily provides general medial and lateral stability. The Gonartec® Advance is specifically designed to apply corrective forces and mechanically unload one compartment of the knee.
How is this different from a compression sleeve?
A compression sleeve provides general compression and light support. The Gonartec® Advance uses a structured joint and 3-point strap system to provide compartment-specific mechanical unloading.

Can it be used for knee arthritis?
Yes. Its main indication is mild-to-moderate unicompartmental knee osteoarthritis where either the medial or lateral compartment is principally affected.

Can it be used for a meniscus injury?
The manufacturer includes selected medial or lateral meniscal injury among the indications. Suitability will depend on the injury and whether compartment-specific unloading is appropriate.

How should the brace fit?
It should remain securely positioned with the polycentric joint correctly aligned alongside the knee. Corrective straps should feel supportive without causing pain, numbness, tingling or excessive localised pressure.

Does it cure osteoarthritis?
No. The brace provides external mechanical unloading while it is being worn but does not reverse the underlying joint changes associated with osteoarthritis.
