What is the safest position for fitting?
Sit somewhere stable whenever possible, particularly if weight bearing is restricted or balance is reduced.
How do you pass the cover over the foot?
Open the seal carefully and guide the foot and cast into the sleeve without scraping the sealing material over rough edges.
How far should the cover extend?
The entire cast or dressing should sit inside the sleeve, with the seal positioned above it on healthy skin.
How do you avoid overstretching the seal?
Open it just enough to clear the widest part of the cast and use both hands to distribute the tension.
What should the seal feel like?
Snug and secure, but not painfully tight. New tingling, numbness, colour change or increasing pain means the cover should be removed.
What about standing in the shower?
The cover does not change weight-bearing restrictions and does not make a wet floor safe. Use any prescribed mobility aid and shower seating as advised.
How should the cover be removed?
Dry the outside first, sit down if appropriate, then open the seal and ease the sleeve back over the cast.
Important: Do not walk or bear weight through a cast differently just because a waterproof cover is fitted. Follow the clinician’s original mobility instructions.
