Who is the Paediatric Hinged Knee Brace suitable for?

What do the polycentric joints do?
The side joints provide medial and lateral reinforcement while allowing the child to bend and straighten the knee.

Does this brace immobilise the knee?
No. It is designed to provide stability while allowing functional knee movement. A paediatric knee immobiliser is more appropriate where substantial movement restriction is required.

How is this different from the Paediatric Stabilising Knee Brace?
The Stabilising Knee Brace uses flexible spiral stays for light reinforcement. This Hinged Knee Brace uses polycentric side joints and provides a more structured level of medial and lateral support.

What does the open-patella design do?
The kneecap remains uncovered while the surrounding support provides stability around the patellofemoral area.

Can it be used where patella centring or unloading is required?
Yes. The manufacturer includes knee conditions requiring centring or unloading of the patella among the indications.

Can it be worn on either knee?
Yes. The brace is bilateral.

How do I choose the correct size?
Measure around the centre of the kneecap. Size 1 covers 20–26 cm and Size 2 covers 26–32 cm.

Is age alone enough to choose the size?
No. The age ranges are a guide; use the knee circumference measurement to confirm the size.

Does it contain latex?
No. Current manufacturer information identifies OP1182 as latex free.
